Professor and researcher in communication and technology, focusing on platform studies, digital politics and sociotechnical infrastructures.
Douglas Ferreira is a professor and researcher in communication and technology. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and a Master’s degree in History of Science and Technology from UFRJ, and is a PhD candidate in Social Communication at PUC-Rio.
His research focuses on platform studies, digital politics and sociotechnical infrastructures. He investigates how political actors organize on digital platforms, the circulation of ideologies, and the political effects of platform architectures, algorithms and governance mechanisms.
His interests also include work and technology, digital commons, commons-based peer production, and democratic and collective forms of technological development. He also conducts discourse analysis research, in dialogue with Lacanian psychoanalysis, applied to political communication and digital technologies.
